Seeing a wave of project updates touting dry-stack tailings and ‘progressive reclamation,’ but the fine print skips the site-wide water balance, pit lake chemistry, and realistic backfill timelines - has anyone seen independent data or post-closure water targets tied to financial assurance? I’m all for faster land return, but without clear seepage controls and seasonal water management plans, it feels like we’re approving maps, not outcomes.
Ugh, same story: lots of dry-stack hype, zero site-wide water balance. On our last project we got the bond tied to specific pit lake sulfate/neutralization targets and a third-party GoldSim balance with 1-in-10 dry-year runs, which forced real seepage controls and realistic backfill timelines. If the update doesn’t show those post-closure water targets and independent model QA, it’s just marketing.
